    Jubilee oil production vessel FPSO shut down

    Partners in Ghana’s Jubilee oil field commenced a shutdown of the production Vessel FPSO Kwame Nkrumah here on Thursday last week to enable repair works on the damaged Turret Bearing on the vessel.
    Tullow Oil confirmed the shut down is the first of two planned for the first quarter of the year.
    The partners had planned a total of three shut-down periods for the year, two in the first quarter and one in the last quarter for remedial works on the FPSO Turret Bearing and rolling back into place.

    Shell sweeps nine of 19 blocks

    Royal Dutch Shell snapped up 9 of the 19 oil and gas blocks awarded in Mexico’s prized Gulf of Mexico deep waters, emerging the clear winner in the country’s biggest auction since the energy sector was opened up to foreign oil firms.
    Shell won four blocks as a lone bidder, four more in a consortium with Qatar Petroleum and another in a consortium with Mexican state oil firm Pemex.

    Statoil opt for West Hercules

    The West Hercules semi-submersible rig has been contracted for drilling two exploration wells in the Barents Sea in 2018, and options to drill another five exploration wells.
    Statoil and the licence partners have signed a contract with North Atlantic Norway Ltd for use of the 6th generation West Hercules rig.
    The total estimated contract value is USD 15-20 million for the two permanent wells.
    Mob and demob are included in the amount, but ROV and other services will be charged extra. Planned drilling start is late in the summer of 2018.
    Statoil’s Head of Drilling Geir Tungesvik said “We have chosen this rig because it is winterized and ready for use in cold waters. We have used this rig before, both in the norther part of the Norwegian continental shelf and in Canada. We expect North Atlantic Norway to provide safe and efficient operations,”

    Vantage Drilling Announces Contract for the Topaz Driller

    Vantage Drilling announced a contract with New Age Cameroon Offshore Petroleum for its premium jack-up rig, the Topaz Driller, to perform drilling services in Cameroon for 150 days.
    This contract will enable Vantage to have two premium jack-up rigs operating in West Africa.
    Vantage currently have a fleet of three ultra-deepwater drillships, four premium jackup drilling rigs and one standard jack-up drilling rig.

    Plexus sell Jack Up business

    Plexus completed the sale of its wellhead exploration equipment and services business for jack-up applications and the licencing of certain intellectual property to FMC Technologies.
    Receiving an initial £14,164,344.
    An additional sum of up to £27,500,000 is payable dependent on the future performance of the Jack-up Business during a three-year earn-out period.
