The bitcoin bubble in late 2017 brought about a lot of hype and irrational buying and selling, which provide tons of opportunities for us day traders who take advantage of the price action both long and short.
Pretty much any penny stock that releases a PR with keywords such as blockchain, cryptocurrency, ICO, or bitcoin in it will run! As we’ve seen with $RIOT, $LFIN, $KODK, $DPW and many more!
$RIOT $MARA and $XNET were my top three blockchain stocks during that time to trade along side the Bitcoin chart. Those three crypto penny stocks were also perfect overnight buys (per my penny stock overnight strategy).
All three of those bitcoin stocks are still under the 50EMA on the daily chart. They’ve been selling off largely because they are penny stock companies and due to the decline of bitcoin cryptocurrency prices. The stock prices need to break above and hold that level, as well as their respective weekly pivots in order to become bullish.
Near the peak of the cryptocurrency bubble I started in short $XNET stock. I was not disciplined to cut my losses early on and took a huge hit after bag holding the short position more than a week later. This is why day trading risk management is so important. Most “gurus” out there don’t properly teach it because it’s not a topic that “sells” unfortunately.
