Because the White Man's a Alcoholic
"The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli."
Baffling frankly. No interview with a classification society, a naval architect, an insurer, the IMO, or any shipowner’s association. So many missing elements.
This was caused by Trump and his Russian collusion.
Why do birds fly??
All by design. ABD
This is what happens when nobody is paying attention…..
"Operator Error" is what they (instructors) always told us when I learned to operate heavy equipment and semis. If you don't have a knack for a certain skill, (like driving boats) you never will. So I'm a carpenter.
“El Faro wreck Captain saying “I was in waves like this all the time in Alaska.” That kind of show-boating is so dangerous. Plus, when the Captain finally called for help, he initially reached some main answering service trying to direct his call, and kept sticking to nautical jargon (something like “I have a 15 degree list in level 4 conditions and need to speak to a certified officer!” instead of just saying “I have 33 people on a ship in a severe storm, and we may sink.”
Why do they keep saying "Ever Given "? The ship clearly says "Ever Green"
NOTE: "Ever Given" is the name of the ship, and it is operated "Evergreen Marine"
@18:00
That has got to be the worst map explanation I have ever seen
Because they are loaded with CHINESE FENTANYL and MIDDLE EAST HEROIN and THIS IS FACTUAL NOT THE BS COWARDLY BLAMING MEXICO RACIST MEDIA AND GOVERNMENT!
Cool, now that it's Nova official I'm eager for WTYP to cover this engineering disaster.
With slides!
Drunk Captains & Crew.
Following the 6 Day War in 1967, the Suez Canal was closed for EIGHT years.
So when this documentary tries to build drama and claim world wide economies will collapse because of a stuck boat, they're full of crap.
Learn… And don't let NOVA/PBS lie to us.
Same thing happens when one bish, crashes at my crib. The whole backlog gets all jammed up. 🤦♂️🤣🤣🤣
👎 Nova is also avoiding another factor embaressing to Egypt.
They finally called a company that specializes in ship disasters, Smit Salvage, a Dutch company. Smit Salvage then headed the entire operation. Not Suez Canal Authorities, oh, legally, yes. Factually, no.
English is the international language of commerce. Egypt refuses to require its pilots to learn English. "It's our canal," they sniff. "We use our language."
My, my Nova is really editing the facts to avoid offending the Egyptians.
Drunk captains and arrogance.
"What caused the accident is" NOT "a mystery."
Many ships have reported extremely poor work and behavior by Egyptian pilots. They eat "everything on the menu" as one officer reported, demand cigarettes and whiskey and other gifts, sleep, watch porn on their phones, lose control.
Egypt, however, is desperate to not admit this. One can only hope that behind the scenes they are making drastic improvements.
Human error
They made the ships too big to handle safely. Someone failed," Driving big ships 101". Someone left off the bow and stern thrusters.
It takes 20 minutes to stop a container ship from cruise.
I was a engineer aboard a 30,000 ton, 650 ft bulk ship before I retired 15 years ago and we had a close call during one of our Suez passages. Fortunately, we were at the south end in the Gulf of Suez and out of the constricted portion of the canal when we lost electrical power (and rudder control) while switching from the diesel generators to the shaft driven generator (it didn't sync properly). Before we grounded, we were able to quickly restart the generators and the captain regained directional control. Whee, close call.
They crash to test response and price levels to plan future events
El Faro was a disaster that could and should have been avoided!!!! The blame is on the captain. Read the book on the incident.
Really nice to see Sal Mercogliano. He has a great youtube channel regarding shipping.
I watch the show as it was aired on PBS TV. I think the producers missed an opportunity. The ever given ship blocked the Suez Canal. The most Expensive salvage job however took place in Saint Simons sound Georgia. The MV Golden Ray crashed & rolled over. The salvage took over two years and I’m not sure it’s completed yet.
Hmm. First china made virus, which messed up our economy. Then this china owned ship blocked the canal, which also messed things up. Now this whole baby formula thing. And not to mention china and Russias little pow wow in Ukraine.
Starting to see a trend here? Has the baby formula crisis been explained yet?
Excellent video, well written and presented. Crashback…crashback…all back full, sometime today please?
