Elon Musk Supporting Dogecoin Again With Newest Move
Although there has been many of negative news as of late in the crypto space, Dogecoin holders can rest assured that the richest man in the world, Elon Musk, has their back. The eccentric billionaire entrepreneur has always had a special place in his heart for Dogecoin, and is once again accepting it as payment within one of his companies.
As reported by CNBC, The Boring Company will accept the meme cryptocurrency dogecoin for rides on Loop, its Las Vegas transit system. The Boring Company The Boring Company’s goal “is to solve traffic, which plagues every major city on Earth” and one of the company’s projects is Loop, also known as “Teslas in Tunnels.” The website indicates that Loop is “an express public transportation system that resembles an underground highway more than a subway system,” and is all-electric with zero-emissions.
Elon confirmed the news on Twitter. He tweeted out;
Support Doge wherever possible
The Boring Company opened the Resorts World Las Vegas passenger station on June 30, 2022. The new Loop station is located underneath an integrated resort and is the fourth stop on the 1.7-mile Las Vegas Convention Center Loop. There are 55 stops planned for the Las Vegas Strip. The company is still working on implementing driver-less vehicles on its Vegas transportation system in the future. Rides are currently free on Loop but the company plans to charge a fee in the future. The Boring Company’s Las Vegas Loop ticket page shows that tickets can be purchased with dogecoin alongside traditional payment options, and a single ride will cost $1.50 whereas a day pass will cost $2.50.
This isn’t the first time Elon has made a move for the adoption and use case of dogecoin as payment in one of his companies.
