In her monthly, In The Know, Cathie Wood explains that the current financial environment is ripe for growth stocks and innovation to thrive, yet here we are. Bitcoin is still in the $16,000 range, Coinbase is trading for $33.00 and Ark Invest is trading at $31.37, which on the bright side, is up 3% year to date. The truth of the matter is, growth stocks and innovation took it on the chin financially in 2022 but Cathie believes the progression that innovation is having on society hasn’t fully reflected its value in the market yet. Investor Chamath Palihapitiya shared the same view as Cathie, where he recently stated that despite the downturn of Zoom as far as stock price, the utility and use-case for it is very important. Cathie believes that her 5 innovation platforms have weathered the storm well. According to Cathie, while all of the other centralized platforms and tokens have tanked, Bitcoin has held well despite all the FUD, collapses, and drama surrounding Bitcoin. To Cathie, this is just a sign of what’s to come.

Cathie Wood started the firm in 2014, after her idea for actively managed exchange-traded funds based on disruptive innovation was deemed too risky by AllianceBernstein. The company is named after the Ark of the Covenant. In 2020, Wood was named the best stock picker of by Bloomberg News editor-in-chief emeritus Matthew A. Winkler.
