Developers confident on Russia-German gas pipe

(25 Mar 2019) The company building a natural gas pipeline from Russia to Germany said on Monday it was confident of getting an outstanding permit from Denmark to close the gap on the 1,200-kilometre (746-mile) route.
A spokesman for the Nord Stream 2 project said it has submitted proposals for two routes around Denmark’s island of Bornholm that are currently pending with Danish authorities.
Jens D. Mueller told reporters in Berlin the company has “good reasons” to believe it’s going to get the Danish permits in time to complete the pipeline this year.
Russia, Finland, Sweden and Germany have already issued permits.
The Baltic Sea pipeline has come under fire from the United States and some European countries that claim it could increase Europe’s dependence on Russia as a supplier of energy.
Washington, which wants to sell its liquefied natural gas to Europe, has threatened sanctions against companies involved in the undersea pipeline.
While it is wholly owned by Russian gas giant Gazprom, half of the project’s 8 billion euro (9 billion US dollars) cost comes from five European energy and chemicals companies including Shell, BASF and araA.
Mueller said developers are confident the terms of a 2017 US sanctions bill and State Department guidelines accompanying it won’t have an impact on Nord Stream 2.

Abgeschlossen wurden von diesen sanktionen nicht betroffen sein sollen alle wesentlichen lieferungen als auch die investitionsvereinbarung mit den westlichen unternehmen sind davor abgeschlossen worden also müssen wir mit blick auf die existierende rechtsgrundlage sagen dass 19 2 davon nicht betroffen sein kann
