So I purchased a (used) vehicle and after a month the motor locked up, vehicle warranty is covering the replacement and up to $40/day $400 total for a rental. Which is nearly impossible to find for $40/day.

I realized after I already found a turo for $35/ day that my car insurance covers rental reimbursement.

Is this coverage able to be used even though there wasn't an actual claim on my insurance?

And if so would using the coverage increase rates?

    Car insurance rental coverage…

No. You can’t use your car insurance to pay for a rental because you don’t have a covered loss to trigger it.

    2. Your own auto insurance policy will not cover a rental vehicle if you do not have a claim for a covered loss. If the warranty company is offering you a rental then you would submit that information to them.

    3. Car rental companies have preferential rates for insurance claims. I have had “$35/day” coverage that has gotten me mid size cars, and even a truck once…that I didn’t ask for. See if any rental companies have special rates for your warranty issuer.
