Imagine you're running a solo-dev agency how do you scale to $50k/month?

    What is your approach on:

    • Finding the clients, would you go for 10x$5k or 5x$10k?
    • How do you position yourself?

    Or is it possible?

I run a solo-dev agency devmason.io, I managed to scaled it to $30k/month then I got burned out and I went back to $18k-$20k/month so now I'm thinking of delegating more and scaling out of solopreneurship?

Anyone here have the same exp? I'd love to hear.

      I don’t get your question.

If you had it already at $30k it’s clear what you need to do, you know your stuff.

I don’t understand why you don’t have employees at $30k / month. It’s enough to easily support them even in economic downturn. Why? It’s clear that you scale service with employees (if you keep price/customer the same).

Yes. Honestly, is this really a question? You can’t answer that yourself being business savvy enough to make 30k/month? Something doesn’t add up.

I am a copywriter and not in dev-agency space.

Still, since it states “imagine”, I am giving it a shot.

      1/ Finding the clients:

I would start with market research and see where ideal customers are roaming (Probably they will be on Twitter and Facebook).

Will then go on to design this exact funnel –

1/ a landing page with the CTA to book a meeting.

Now the goal would be to see if landing page converts well or not.

2/ Some organic marketing (blogs, social media posts etc) and some UGC if possible (influencer collaboration – not influencer sponsoring) for initial A/B testing of landing page.

If the landing page converts well, then it’s time to set the other parts of the funnel.

There are multiple ways from here:

      3/ Email/paid/social
I can set up an educational email sequence with subtle promotions (will build an email list with super valuable freebies), or run targeted ads on Google, Meta or TikTok to get the attention.

End goal will be to redirect people to the landing page.

When it comes to choosing between 10x5k or 5x10k, it totally depends on my skills level.

If I am super good, I would prefer going for 5x10k and vice versa.

In fact, if I am a total newbie, I won’t hesitate to work at peanuts to get work experience.

To scale it to $50k, would approach it like a ladder.

Let’s say I got 3 retainer clients: 2 pay 5k/mo, 1 pays 10k/mo. They take all the time.

I might consider leaving 5k/mo or delegate/outsource it to buy my time back. Then try to get one another 10k/mo client on table. Similarly, last 5k/mo client will be the next target unless I increase my bandwidth by hiring someone or improving processes.

Overall – get the selling machine ready (landing page), test it (A/B testing), Send traffic.

      Positioning:

Not a long answer for this question, but I would try to target rich clients and leave others (considering I am super good with skill).

To differentiate, maybe I will offer speed while maintaining quality. Or might offer different pricing models like monthly subscriptions for x requests or something.
