Hit and run on rental car

I visited the meteor crater in Arizona and when I came back to the car, I noticed a dent on the passenger door near the driver’s side with a red smear on the dent. Although I noticed it then, I'm not exactly sure of it happened then or the previous place i parked in sedona. I immediately made a police report. Will I have to pay deductible for this if the driver is not found which is the most likely case? I have progressive insurance in iowa and this damage is on the rental car. I have comprehensive collision coverage.
