This morning I woke up to see my GC future call option on 2475 which had a stop loss on 7 didn’t activate because the market opened above 7 and I lost a lot more money than I intended to. Stop losses are crucial to my strategy and I would really like it if they would work. Is there anyway that I can prevent my options from closing above the given stop loss price even when the market opens above it?

No. While the market is closed your order can’t execute so if/when it opens higher you are just SOL.

They work exactly as advertised; why do you think otherwise?
