A guy with a uhaul hit my car, he is entirely at fault. My insurance estimate was low for what I’m expecting the repairs to be. Since I am out of state they said I would need to cover the difference, if anything.

I filed a claim with uhaul as well, should I wait for their estimate to see if they offer more for the damages?

Your insurances initial estimate was low because they wrote for what they can see, not what might be damaged underneath. It will be addressed on a supplement. You can always drive your vehicle home damaged if safe to do so and get it repaired back home.

The other guys insurance may not cover it at all since a uhaul is a box truck and some companies don’t extend coverage to box trucks.

Uhaul likely won’t cover anything unless the guy bought insurance from them, but I’m not even sure uhaul offers such a thing. Even if they do, it’ll be a low initial estimate until the vehicle is at the shop and torn down and all the damages are uncovered.
