We bought our first really new new car 10 days ago (2024 corolla). Unfortunately a family member rear-ended someone in it last night.

I've filed a claim with Allstate and have an estimate for their body shop.

It's my first time doing this, I wondered if someone could answer some questions:

    1. What happens to the car warranty if I get it repaired at the allstate shop? Or even at the dealership?
    2. If we go to the dealership, are we responsible for the difference between Allstate's estimate and the dealership bill?

Some background for these questions – Several years ago my wife had a car repaired at an insurance shop, which included a radiator replacement. Sometime later the car overheated, she had it towed to the Honda dealership where it was still under warranty, they opened the hood and said "that's not a Honda radiator, none of our business". The repair shop did fix it in the end, but we were left with a vehicle with some parts covered by Honda and some by the repair shop. With this vehicle being so new I'd like to avoid any complications like that if possible.

    Thanks in advance.

10 day old car in accident. Used preferred body shop or dealership? How does it affect warranty?
