Half way through the year on my home contents and buildings policy. Rang the insurance company to add a valuable item of jewellery, they told me I cannot add it to my existing policy, they cancelled this and quoted me for a new policy.

My question is this, will having this existing policy cancelled make it more difficult or more expensive to get cover in the future?
I seem to remember this is one of the disclosure questions.
    I am in the UK.

Thanks for any help or advice

Is it bad to have a home insurance policy cancelled?

    1. Not unless you have a lapse. If the new policy started on the same date the old one was cancelled you’re fine.
