Hi – I'm in the military and looking to buy a house first time in Salt Lake County, Utah using the VA Loan. We already have the VA loan pre-approved. Anyone know or can share how long it typically take from the time I submit the offer to when we get the house' key? My wife pregnant and she's due in about 6-7 weeks or so, so we're trying to decide if it's realistic to purchase a house with the hope of being able to move in before the baby arrives…

A lot goes into how long it takes to close (inspections, finances, loan underwriting, random hiccups along the way, etc). But usually, it takes anywhere from 30-40 days from when you have an accepted offer (even getting an accepted offer can take a few days – depends on how much back and forth there is). 6-7 weeks could be tight (congrats on the new addition to your family!).
