I joined back in 2018, so it’s probably too late to claim any money. This is more so, if the answer is yes I can take care of another junior member that had the same struggles and pay it forward for the next person.

I joined the CG as an E-3 with a child but was not married.

My now wife was watching our son in California (alameda) while she finished up school
I was stationed in Washington (Port Angeles)

At the time I got BAH (1300) and had to send $ to her to support our kid.
I asked if I could get California BAH (which was way higher) because my family was down there and was told no. I’m not sure if I was supposed to get California BAH instead of Washington BAH.
Would’ve made financial strain as a new E-3 a lot was difficult.
I lived alone for 7 months until they moved up with me after she completed college.

I’ll go ask admin on Tuesday but hey there might be an armchair admin on here that might answer it today.

Am I owed money / is it too late

You get bah based on where you are stationed and don’t get extra unless the military forced you to be apart.

      Yes you were told incorrectly

All your admin should have done was told you to produce a lease from you that your family lived in another BAH region that received more BAH than where you were stationed.

Its a simple form. As for getting money back extremely unlikely, BAH is defaulted to your PDS, if you did not put in a request or have evidence proving you tried and were told no will be extremely hard.

Shitty L but is what it is
