Been with Nationwide since 1998, home and two cars bundled, not one single claim in 26 years. Roof is 12 years old and is in great shape other than some naturally occurring shadowing/streaking.
Received a letter out of the blue, “THERE IS NATURALLY OCCURRING STREAKING, SHADOWING ON YOUR ROOF. MAIL PROOF THAT YOU FIXED THIS DAMAGE IN THE NEXT THREE WEEKS OR WE ARE DROPPING YOUR COVERAGE”
No phone number to call with questions. No website to address any questions. Just a P.O. Box.
Called my Nationwide agent and was told “ just power wash your roof and send them a picture” I have an asphalt shingle roof, this would destroy the roof. I asked to speak to someone else at the agency. Was again told by a different agent “just power wash your roof and send a picture”
Feel betrayed by a company that would always give me “loyalty awards” and “paid in full” discounts.
If Nationwide wants to get out of the insurance business, there are better ways to do it.

    Rant over, thanks
Have a new insurance company, dropped Nationwide

Nationwide flew drone over my house, and is canceling my home owners insurance due to “Naturally occurring streaking”

      Blah blah blah…

You didn’t maintain your roof, now you are paying the price. Wash the flucking thing, and send them a picture, stop being a cry baby.

       Fix your roof…

    2. So instead of fixing the issue you found alternative coverage and everything is fine. Why are you complaining?

Heaven forbid a company decide guidelines on what they want to take a chance on insuring. No I think we should force insurance companies to insure us no matter what.

Or if you even care, they likely have hundreds of thousands of data points that help them assess risk and one of those, streaking on a roof, for whatever reason points at an increased chance of a claim being filled.

And no they didn’t fly a drone over your house, it was a plane that flew over many areas and sells the images to insurance companies. This is wide spread. There are too many homes to inspect yearly to assess condition and too many people that have no idea how to maintain their property anymore.
