Hi all. My mother lives with me because she is elderly. The car I drive is in her name. On her birthday last year, she switched from an Ohio driver's license to just a state ID. We are switching car insurance this year because the company we have jacked the rate up. We're probably going to go with State Farm because they seem to be the cheapest for the same coverage we have now. My questions are about having her on the insurance even though she no longer has a license, and about listing the lienholder.

Should she be the policy holder because she's the owner of the car? Does she have to be on the policy even though she'll never drive the car?

Also, when filling the info to get a quote online, it says this:

"Enter your finance company's name and address. The address should match exactly what is shown on the documents provided by your finance company."

We have the loan through Wells Fargo. There are two addresses (P.O. boxes) listed, but neither match any of the addresses I have on any of the paperwork. If I use the wrong address, can it be corrected later? If I should enter the address manually, how do I decide which is the correct one to use?

    Thanks for the help!

If she is the owner of the car and you drive it, you both have to be on the policy. You can’t insure a car you don’t own. Her license status isn’t an issue since you live together. If you’re driving it now, have an accident & not on the policy the claim will probably be denied since you’re an unlisted driver. Please contact them asap so this doesn’t happen. The lien holder address can be corrected later, no big deal.
