I live in an apartment complex in Pennsylvania. Last night, severe winds blew over the privacy fence I park near and left a sizable dent in my car door.

Is this something the landlord would be liable for, or would I submit a claim through my auto insurance or renters insurance?

Thanks in advance for any guidance!

    Who covers it?

    1. Severe winds blew over fence – landlord is not liable – would be act of nature. This would fall under your comprehensive coverage, if you have it, on your auto policy.

Your landlord has no control over severe winds so he’s not liable. You’d need to file on your insurance assuming you have comprehensive on your policy.
