Basically, someone hit my parked car and damaged my front end, ugly to look at but didn’t affect anything inside. I haven’t been able to afford my deductible as I’m doing repairs in my home right now, so have just been driving it as is. The insurance company (Geico) sent me a check for the auto body place based on their photo estimate, but was $1500 less than what the repair shop quoted me. My deductible is $1000. The agent said they would cover the difference whenever I got it done. It’s been a few months and the check has expired, so they’ve been reaching out via email asking me to accept the payment electronically. My question is, am I able to just keep the money and not do the repairs now, or at all?
I’ve seen some other posts saying that is okay if you own the car outright.
I still have 12 months left on my car loan so I’m not sure how it would go.
Also, if I do just accept the money, could I provide them with the accurate estimate to get the full amount?

Can I keep insurance payout and not repair vehicle?
