I'm hot and just rambling here. Incident happened May 16th. Tree banged up my AC pretty good and branches fell on copper piping between the house and AC.  Called Allstate on the 17th and the earliest they could come out was the 23rd.  Power was restored  to our area on the 22nd but didn't turn on the AC to prevent further damage.  Asked the adjuster if I could have someone come out to fix or replace the outside unit, and was told I had to wait for an inspector to look at my AC.  It's a hot and humid 88-90 degrees in my home even with fans running. After the 3rd night with no AC, I went out and bought a window unit, which the adjuster said they will not cover. It's the May 27th adjuster processed my claim and said we still need to wait on the inspector.  He told me if I was elderly that they would probably cover  the AC or hotel stay.  Is there nothing I can do?

Had a tree land on my roof and AC unit. Insurance is making wait for AC repairs. Texas

    1. Is it an HVAC inspector they are waiting on?

Is it clearly obvious the AC unit is a total loss or is there a decent chance it can be fixed?

If it’s the latter I would contact my AC company and ask for a diagnostic report for a couple hundred dollars. Your company may be different but I’ll pay a couple hundred for a diagnostic report and some photos of the unit. Then also email a copy of the estimate to the adjuster for them to review.
