Hey all, quick question.

Im 21, just graduated college. The car I permanently drive was my first car that I got when I was 16. I don't remember why, but my Dad's name is the owner of the car according to the Title, with me listed as a secondary owner.

I have a job lined up across the country and plan to permanently move out in the next month or so and will be a full-time resident in another state.

That being said, I of course am still under his insurance, but wasn't sure if I could remain under his car insurance after I move (it would save a ton of money). I know that since I won't be a full-time resident at the insured address, I probably wouldn't be allowed to remain on it, but wasn't sure if the circumstances changed since he is technically the owner of the vehicle.

The last thing I want is to be involved in any kind of insurance fraud or possibly have complications if I ever had in accident in my new state. Any advice or knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

TLDR; Moving to a new state, dad is technically the owner of my car. Can I stay on his insurance even while permanently residing across the country?

Parents Car Insurance in another state?

Not unless u r in same household, let alone same state.

If insurance is expensive (it is ur first and u r young), start with very cheap car with no collision/comprehensive and high liability/property coverage (+ medical payments and ui/uim recommended).
