Something that has been really hard for me as an entrepreneur is learning to relax and wind down.

At the end of the day when I'm supposed to stop working and spend time with my family, it's like I can't turn off. I just want to keep working. A lot of times I do.

Sometimes I genuinely need to keep working because of pressing matters, but most of the time it is not necessary and can just wait until tomorrow—but I feel that I HAVE to! I also feel guilty if I don't work on Saturdays. Sundays are usually the only days I really take off, and even then I'm usually thinking about work on Sundays.

When I was single, this honestly was not much of a problem for me. Even after working long hours I wouldn't feel burnt out because I found so much fulfillment in my work. But now that I'm married, I have seen it create a lot of tension with my spouse and hurt my relationships overall. It seems to affect other people a lot more than me, which ironically affects me I guess.

I just feel like if I keep down this road I will have no friends or family in 10 years. I really do love the people in my life, I am just struggling to find balance I guess.

Has anyone figured out this balance? How do you be a successful entrepreneur and also nurture a happy personal life?

Do you struggle with work-life balance?

Just yesterday I downloaded Eric Partaker’s “The 3 Alarms” and I think it might be helpful if you have time to go through it.

He was going full out with his work for a long time and then had a near-death experience which was a wake-up call for him to take care of his health. So he did.
Then his wife told him one day she was leaving. Another wake-up call – about his relationship.

Work, health, and relationships are the 3 key areas of life that we likely all want to perform well in. He goes through a fairly simple system to make that happen.

I’m not done with the book yet but I wanted to share if it’s helpful.
