Was in a car accident. Without insurance

So today I was in an accident I was driving on the road in the left lane. The right lane was a bunch of cars waiting to turn onto a major street. Basically a car comes darting out of a parking lot turning my way to go the way I was coming from. I braked as hard as I could but I drive a big truck and didn’t have the time to stop. I hit the side of her car. We pull off and park she called her mom. Her mom demanded I pay for the damages or they would involve Insurance. I refuse to pay she called her insurance. I had to get to work. My car was drivable. Hers was not. They told me they had to wait for tow truck. I’m wanting to know what happens if I just ignore her insurance or what do I tell them because I feel like no matter what I’m going to get fucked I’m wanting to know what happens if I just ignore her insurance or what do I tell them because I feel like no matter what I’m going get screwed because I didn’t have insurance. Do I have to talk to their insurance? Do I need to figure out how to consult an attorney? Do I wait for them to take me to court? What do I do in this situation? I am low income. To be clear the damage to the girls car was right at the tire the control arm was bent. And some dents.
