Yesterday I was driving home in the slow lane. I went to start to get into the left lane to pass the car in front of me. I signal I check my mirrors obsessively I look behind me, ALWAYS, I have lane keep assist, I have blind spot monitoring on my side view mirrors, my car literally won’t let me go past the middle lines if there is someone in blind spot. So I don’t know how this happened, but as I started to move left there was suddenly a car right beside me. I corrected straight and continued to drive, but the other party corrected too much and lost control of wheels when trying to turn straight as opposed to into the median wall. I was behind at this point watching the car spin a couple of times then slide into the median. I didn’t go into their lane, my vehicle didn’t make contact with them. I pulled over easily and called 911 for them to get aid, an officer came out and talked with me and I gave them my insurance information and left. The other driver was good, just shaken up and she walked onto the ambulance. Today their insurance agent called me to get my insurance information. Basically said on the phone it was my fault. I ended the conversation quickly basically telling him I gave that info to the officer. Did I do something wrong
Someone wrecked and I stopped

Well if there had been contact between the two vehicles, you’d be at fault since you merged into them. But with no contact, your insurance might well deny their claim against you saying the other party overreacted and failed to maintain control of their vehicle.
Unless you were a suspected cause of the loss, I don’t see how you/your insurance was documented as part of the incident. The disclosure I gave is probably why of course.
You made the right decision. They are not your insurance company, you owe them nothing. Call your insurance right away if you haven’t already and inform them of the details and let them handle it.
