    1. It’s the current normal for young drivers in certain states (like NY), and especially for certain vehicles. If you have even the slightest hiccup in your driving record (accidents ad moving violations), then you’re really fucked. You might be looking at the “wrong” vehicles if you’re concerned about insurance payments – faster cars, more expensive cars, particular makes and models (looking at you Teslas) are generating rates off the charts. 10-15 year old sedans that get you from point A to point B without much fuss or pizzazz tend to be far cheaper to insure (although there are some makes and models that are still expensive even if they’re older).

    2. Yes, it’s normal to see very high premiums for a young male in NY. You present a high risk, and you will be charged accordingly. You can possibly lower your cost by purchasing a cheap, old, boring vehicle.
