I recently had to travel on short notice which required me to get a passport right away. Ended up costing nearly $300 for same day issue. I’m hoping I can get reimbursed for this but I’m failing to find the reg.
Is a passport reimbursable on a travel voucher?

If it’s work related they would issue Red passport for you.
If you traveled on military orders they could’ve given you an “official passport”. Anytime I had to travel OCONUS I just showed my military orders and military ID.
No. You will not be reimbursed.
As I’m on my 3rd embassy assignment, have done a lot of passport apps, and do a lot of work with American citizen services, need the full details to advise you on this. It feels like you went down the wrong road here and/or had some really bad guidance. What was the context of your travel and which countries?
If you are conducting official TDY operational travel the yes. Some places are very particular about the use of red passports and limit their use for OPSEC reasons. This is just a personal experience, but I’ve never travel ed alone on a red passport.
