Hi, so in a nutshell, my car was parked on the street got hit by a driver hauling ass down the street. They’re at fault. I got this in the mail from the other party’s insurance . My car is in a storage yard. I’m currently using a rental car in the mean time until adjusters get on the claim and this gets situated. The car is totaled. Would I be wasting my time if I sent out a rental invoice form to try to get reimbursement for the rental I’m paying out of my own pocket. The very last sentence states it would “cease” so I’m figuring they are not going to even help with reimbursement for rental? Any input would be helpful thank you!

Would at fault insurance cover me for rental?

From my experience when you file a claim against someone else’s insurance and they are at fault the company will provide you with a rental for the time that you need it, but you need to communicate that you need it. Might be different where you are! I’d recommend calling the adjuster or any number for a named person that appears in the documents.

You should attempt to get reimbursed for your rental expenses. First you need to ensure the other carrier has sufficient coverage to cover your totalled vehicle plus rental expenses.

    3. If the insurance that’s handling your total loss claim is also handling your rental, they will send you a letter letting you know when they will cease coverage of the rental, due to your vehicle being a total loss.

That sounds frustrating! It’s worth trying to get reimbursement for the rental.
