I just sold my vehicle today and will be surrendering my plates in the upcoming days. I won't be purchasing another vehicle for a year due to a move into NYC for work, but I will be purchasing another vehicle in almost exactly a year from now.

To keep my auto insurance low for when I need it again in one year, would it be better to switch to a non-owners policy or can I just cancel my auto insurance?

For some context, I'm in my late twenties and have been continuously insured for the last 7 years. Thanks.

Should I change to non-owners policy or cancel it altogether

    1. Absolutely purchase a non-owner’s policy. If you have a lapse, it will be difficult and expensive to find a new policy in a year.
