Hi, I had a homeowners insurance claim last year done for a roof. Roof was completed last year, everything came out good. Yesterday my insurance adjuster called me out of the blue and asked if I wanted to close out the claim. I asked if the roof company got paid and he stated that the roof company got a lawyer to contest it. Roof company stated they had a AOB of my policy but my policy states there are no AOBs allowed and this was relayed to roofer. Insurance company offered them a 4000 settlement check but no response from roofer yet. Roof company says I’m paid in full. Insurance company is asking if I want to close the claim out? What is best course of action? Thanks

whether the claim is closed or not doesn’t really matter

what you need to be worried about is this roofer filing a mechanics lien on your property; assuming they think they’re owed more than $4k, they’re gonna try to get it from the insurer but if they can’t, they’re just going to fall back on the contract you signed and get it from you directly

good luck, hiring this shady roofer is probably going to cost you
