I had two floods in the last two years. One in a detached building due to a frozen pipe and one in my house due to a clogged sink. They are both on the same policy with Allstate. I got a notice of non renewal and when calling they said it was due to 2 floods within 5 years.

I have tried calling other insurance companies but no one will insure me with any claims on my record.

    What do I do?

    1. Go visit a local broker near you (broker, not agent). They’ll find coverage. You won’t like the premium and the terms, but you’ll have coverage. Good luck.

Water claims are sort of the kiss of death for some carriers, especially with multiple in such a short amount of time. Find a brokerage/independent agent and ask for quotes. Be honest about the claims history. Lying only wastes time. They’re going to find out anyways. You will likely have to pay more. That’s a given. The big hope here is that you won’t wind up on a non standard policy with restrictions. Just be honest and open. Also he prepared to move the full package over to a new company, not just the house. You’re going to have to likely bundle the auto or any other toys you have. Just be prepared and don’t be mad at the new agent you work with. They’re truly going to try their best to help you.
