Hey everyone,

I’m going to be PCSing soon from Texas to Maryland. While I was stationed in TX, I changed my residency and registered my car to avoid state income tax and annual automotive property tax respectively.

From what I understand, I am able to maintain TX residency as long as I am AD military. Once I find a place to live, am I obligated to change my address so I will have a Texas driver’s license with a MD address?  Additionally, am I allowed to keep my car registered in TX to avoid paying the fees of registering my car in MD? I have a forwarding address setup and I could receive the new registration sticker.

Lastly, when I file taxes as a TX resident, am I fine maintaining my current apartment address I will no longer live at?

    Thank you for your help!

May depend on TX laws…they’ll need your mailing address if you plan to renew your license online. I don’t know if they require the address on the license to be your current physical or not though.

      Yes.

Taxes need your mailing address. That’s how they contact you if needed.
