We are helping him out this summer. Reason is he does not and isn't allowed to drive my other cars and i don't want my insurance to go up on my other cars. Plus he is a 21 year old male, and the statistics are true they are just wreckless. As I type this i ask myself why am i even letting him borrow it. Thoughts?

I am thinking about pulling a second policy on one of my cars that my nephew is driving around.

depending on your company they might not even allow this unless he lives with you.

    2. I wouldn’t. You lend your car, you end up being primarily responsible for damage caused by it in most cases. If you don’t fully trust him to not leave you paying for running down a pedestrian or rear ending someone when they’re distracted by a text message and hospitalizing them, don’t do this

They can get their own vehicle and insurance and you can send him money to help with the bill if you really want to help him out but insulate yourself from his actions

Can anyone actually show a case where a named insured was found liable for damages beyond the policy limits for a non-dependant/spouse operator? Except in extremely bizzare cases, off hand I can’t see a court actually holding a person liable in a civil case simply because they loaned the car.
