Hi all,
I called my local office to cancel my car insurance policy (much better rate elsewhere) on Friday, June 14. My local office said they submitted the cancelation, and the agent emailed me a screenshot of a “log” that apparently confirmed my cancelation. I called Statefarm’s 800 number and an agent said that it takes a few days for cancellations to process. My monthly payment was scheduled to be paid on June 16, but I turned off autopay and removed my payment method. As of today, my policy still says active, and my account says it is now past due.

Is this normal? I feel like a simple cancellation shouldn’t be so difficult.

    1. You have proof that the cancellation was submitted and know it takes a few days to process. It seems reasonable to assume business days and a delay from the weekend.

Should just be a matter of time
