I have accident insurance through work. It has been forever since I last filed a claim. I was at the gym a month ago and while lifting weights pulled/twisted something in my testicles. I have had sensitivity to that area for many years and this injury really made it much worse and it was so bad I went to the ER. Doctor was almost unable to examine me because of the sensitivity being so bad. They took an ultrasound which came back normal but was told the ultrasound does not always show everything for sure. I then was referred from the ER to go see urology. Ended up seeing the same urologist I did back in 2019 for sensitivity – but this time it was due to the injury.

On the insurance paperwork it asks things about having similar injuries in the past to this. I do not believe I would be check marking yes if I have had chronic pain down there that is idiopathic (aka unknown).

I think I should be fine to file a claim. What do you think?

*Flair chosen is life insurance since accident insurance has no flair and life insurance is closest.

Am I allowed to file a claim for this injury? Even if flared up probably because of preexisting condition?

    1. Can you file a claim? Yes.

However (and I’m speaking from my knowledge of auto insurance claims), insurance *can* request your medical records if they are being expected by you or your physician to pay for the claim. You can refuse to provide that info, but that also gives insurance a basis to deny your claim.

Your medical records will have everything you told your doctor upon examination. **Everything.** Including the duration of sensitivity in the area.

ETA: Can your claim be denied? Yes.

Can you be investigated for and potentially charged for insurance fraud? Yes.

You can file a claim for an injury even if it’s related to a preexisting condition.

Sure, you can file a claim. Just be truthful about your injury and past issues. It’s worth a shot, and honesty is the best policy here.
