A few days ago I was involved in a car accident where I was making a left turn at an intersection. The green left arrow appeared, I started to go, someone on the other street of the intersection ran a red, and hit the front of my car, which hit me into a car in the lane to my right. Police report was filed, guy who ran red was cited. The only person who was injured as far as I know is the guy who ran the red.
I was driving a rental vehicle and I have the LDW with the rental company, but I don't have personal car insurance. I've been getting calls from the insurance company of the guy who ran the red, but I wanted to sort this out on my end before attempting to speak with the company.
All this being said, I'm not sure what to do in the case that the car in the lane to my right comes after me for damages. Additionally, I don't believe I am at fault here, but I don't want to say something that screws me in the future over the phone with this insurance company.
Should I talk to a lawyer to see what they can potentially do for me? This is stressing me out and I feel like I am losing so much time trying to figure this all out on my own, since I don't have a car insurance company to pass all of this onto.
