Someone told me that after checking-in to new command, your BAH will be decreased by the amount of TLE you used.

That is, if you took the full 14 days of TLE during a CONUS to CONUS move, they would subtract 14 days from your BAH after you file your travel claim.

I’ve looked through Reddit and the references but haven’t seen a direct response to this question.

My understanding from what I’ve read outside of this person’s statement is that TLE and BAH are separate entitlements, and service members can collect both TLE and BAH at the same time as long as they are CONUS and not assigned to government quarters.

The only reference that I believe supports the argument for BAH turning off due to TLE is DoD FMR Vol. 7a, chapter 26, Table 26-6, which states that BAH is to be turned off when one is furnished lodging (either via cash or in-kind) on behalf of the United States, but I thought it has to be non-temporary style lodging.

    Thanks for the help!

    Does TLE affect BAH?
