    Using Airplane mode so I don’t get assigned

    I sold a bunch calls against my NVDA stock a couple weeks ago that expire tmrw. I’m kinda fucked bc I sold the 115 calls so I’m definitely gonna assigned tmrw. If I put my phone on airplane mode near market close and keep it off until 5:30 est maybe I just won’t get assigned? Thoughts…

      Putting your phone on airplane mode and not checking your account wont prevent you from being assigned. The assignment process is handled by the brokerage and the options clearing house, regardless if you’re actively monitoring your account.

      Tldr: closing your eyes when a train is coming at you won’t prevent you from getting hit.

      You can also try putting your hands over your eyes. If you can’t see your screen it can’t happen cause the options just disappear.

      Solid strategy but probably easier if you just close your eyes around 5:30, if you cant see it its not happening..

      This will work. I turned off my phone to prevent margin call from my brokerage, it has been working for me

      You can roll the $115C out to August19 $120C for a credit. Sure, more time for things to move against you, but a free $500 for doing it.

      Yeah your shares are held inside your phone, if you break it open with a hammer you can actually pick them up and hide them so you don’t get assigned

      Am I the only one that can’t tell if this is a shit post or is this guy seriously this regarded? Holy hell.

      Your only choices are to buy back the calls you sold and either take the loss or resell another option at a further date out at a higher strike, hoping it doesn’t keep going up. This process is called rolling.

      If you don’t, you will lose your shares, which is not the worst thing in the world for someone as regarded as you.

      Selling calls makes them fly away.

      They go vroom vroom.

      Putting on airplane mode on phones makes them flap their wings.

      protip, when they try to assign you just say “new phone, who diz?” and they’ll hang up. If it works for child support it works for assignment!
