We always hear from people who are under investigation for “no reason”, can we hear from some of you who have been caught for fraud misrep? What were you thinking? How did you get caught? Do you regret it? Have you been able to get insurance since?

    1. Interested to see the responses….
Most that I have dealt with are people desperately attempting to get coverage for an event outside of coverage dates.

You won’t get nay responses here, don’t you know they are all innocent, their lawyer fucked them over 😂

Yea you probably won’t get a lot of responses but I’m assuming on the property wide at least most of this stems from bad contractors/PAs/roofers who help coach homeowners into filing BS claims. In the auto side it might be a bit more common for a policyholder to fabricate a story but I really don’t know.

    4. Awful case in CT in 2005 where a dump truck with bad brakes crashed, killed several people, and the owners had cancelled insurance. They tried to add it back after the crash without mentioning it.

    5. Not exactly what you are looking for but my wife’s uncle was convicted of bankruptcy fraud by trying to hide an open insurance claim. In the middle of their case they had a total loss on a warehouse that was set to pay over $100K . . . and he conveniently didn’t think it was relevant because the claim hadn’t settled before the bankruptcy was finalized.

He spent a few years in prison. Was a long time ago and don’t think it really affects them now.
