My car was stolen from our driveway recently. The cop asked if I had anything of value, he said the things I listed weren't considered "expensive" (ie laptops, jewelry, etc) and didn't include any of it in the report. I had nice mats & seat covers, and some testers & cables for work in a nice hard case in the vehicle at the time of theft. It isn't that much stuff, the claim comes out to about $1,700. Now my renters insurance is claiming it ALL needs to be on the police report to be considered. Is this real? I feel like they are jerking me around. It's Lemonade. She also wants my land lady's number, but I never told my land lady about the theft because she is very hands off and we only call her if something breaks. Feels like overkill but if I have to share it then fine. Any advice before I call the adjuster back would be appreciated. Right now I am feeling shit out of luck. Think I'll be dropping Lemonade after this regardless, whole process through them has been a massive head ache. Thanks.
My car was stolen. Submitted a renters insurance claim for the items in the vehicle at the time of the theft. They are claiming that “itemized items not on the police report cannot be reviewed and considered for coverage”

Lemonade has a shitload of rules, policies, restrictions, and endorsements that other companies do not. I 100% believe this
They effectively are learning how to be an insurance company as they go along. They have a horrible reputation among the industry
But hey, they have are a “five star rated insurance company” *on the Apple app store*
You can call the police non emergency number and ask how to amend the report “for insurance purposes”
Just play their game so you can get your money, don’t go through life letting people steal from you twice. Contact the police, request the report be amended to add all the items you had stolen from you. Give them landlady’s number, who cares? If land lady asks whats up be like “my horrific renters insurance company demanded your number before settling my claim for my stolen property”. Get the amended police report then call the adjuster.
just make a supplemental police report and submit to your insurance co.
Just contact the police dept and file a supplemental report to the original report, we would ask our customers do this so that their list of stolen personal property they claimed matched the list of stolen property on the police report.
