Insurance on small personal possessions

Hello to everyone,

Not so long ago I started having some expensive objects

A friend of mine told me that it's possible to buy insurance for small (but valuable) objects, like a computer, an expensive watch, a phone, etc.. and I'm not talking about travel insurance, because I know that to claim it you need to prove that you were travelling.

I had no clue about this, I thought that when someone has a valuable object they just try to be careful about it not to lose or damage it.

• Have you ever heard of something like this?

• How does this work?

• Does it cover also loss, theft and damage when they're out of the house or only when I'm in the house?

• Any company in Europe/Italy that provides this service?
