I’ve never come across this before and find it pretty weird to ask for relative’s identification since they all live in their own homes. I’m assuming it triggered somewhere they might be household members and want proof of ID with a different address. Besides the point of how weird it would be to ask the few relatives to send me a copy of ID, has anyone had this happen? Is this a common thing?

Insurance company asking for photos of multiple family member’s drivers licenses that do not live with me.

You assume correctly. They got info from a database(s) somewhere that indicated they live with you.

Industry standard to account for people they think might be household members.

    2. Sounds like your family members are using your address on some form somewhere

That form pinged them as living at your address so they’re going to assume they live there unless you prove otherwise

It’s an anti-fraud thing. People love to “creatively” forget their family members in the house with bad driving histories lol. You seem honest but your situation looks identical to theirs

How many of these folks used to live with you and never updated their d/l when they moved? If their d/l shows your address, the assumption is that they live in the same household, and you now will need to provide clear and convincing evidence to the contrary.

What do you do if the other person refuses to give you a photo of their ID?

Call the insurance company and inform them that those individuals don’t live with you. They should have the ability to remove them. It happened to me a few months back, me and my girlfriend started a policy together and they asked questions about my dad who lives in a different state than me and some of her people. I hope it works out for you !

    6. Knew someone in a similar situation with an uncooperative ex. They really didn’t live together, but the ex was unwilling to provide any documentation of any kind. Insurance wouldn’t remove him without documentation, but was willing to *exclude* him. Doesn’t seem like much risk of him being a permissive driver with that relationship…
