This is my first PCS using the GTC, I’ve only ever used it for TDY in the past and DTS has always paid off the balance then reimbursed me the remainder of my pay. I just got my travel pay from DFAS this morning, so I have to pay the GTC off myself with that correct? Or have they already paid it off and reimbursed me the remainder?

Do I have to pay off the GTC myself?

    1. You are responsible to ensuring everything on your GTC gets paid off.

Through DTS you find out how much your getting paid for traveling. If you put it in correctly your balance due on your GTC gets paid off then anything else goes in your pocket. If DTS dosent pay all of what you put on your GTC the rest is coming out of your pocket.

If you got your travel pay and it didnt fully pay off the GTC first its coming out of your pocket. Not paying your GTC is a fast way for the air force to take it out of your stripes as intrest after taking it from your paycheck.

    2. Since this was a PCS, and you mentioned you already received your travel payment to your bank account, you should have a DD Form 1351-2. This is the travel voucher for your PCS. At the top you should have designated whether to do a split disbursement to your GTC, and how much. If you used your GTC during the move, you should have known the balance and split the disbursement accordingly. If you did not do a split disbursement and received everything via EFT to your bank account, you will likely still have a balance on your GTC. You can verify by logging into (or creating an account on) CitiManager. That is the website for checking your GTC like you would with any other credit card. If you have a balance you are responsible for paying it off

If you’re using it for a PCS move, you can put the account into a “Good-Will Travel” mode. Where you won’t be obligated to pay anything until after your arrive to your new duty station.
Just give Citi bank A call and explain to them what’s going on.

Usually they can set it up to where it’ll auto pay your GTC card. Then give you the remaining amount.
Just log into your GTC account and look.
