      Besides, Assuming that it is cheaper when it takes transfers between sea cargo and road is not right.
      This is more some political plot than economical idea. Is Turkey trying to assert its influence on Iraq and co for many years to come, ottoman revival? $12 billions is not enough, but just a trick to get the rich princes who do not know what to do with their money to get stuck.

    10. It should be a "network of roads and railways". And they are talking about canals, larger than the Suez. How should this work? Finally, the transport will still be in containers and on trucks. And what does your pictures show? Canals, container ships and construction works on the locks of the Panama-canal.
      The idea of a "New Silk Road" is not from Erdogan – China is talking about it for decades already.

    12. Turkey has no chance of building a canal through Iraq , especially with Iran as a neighbour. A rail connection might be a possibility,but then the rail connection might as well forward on to mainland Europe for it to succeed.
