I have been trading stocks personally for over a year, and I am interested in joining a prop firm (American) to trade with more capital. I would have no obligations to them, because it isn't employment, but I would be trading with their capital. I would need to pass basically a trading test, and then they let me trade with their capital unless I lose too much, in which case, I would lose the account. My profit would be the money I make using their capital minus whatever percentage cut they take. It wouldn't require being professionally licensed, so it's not the same as investing other people's money. Does anyone here know if I would need to fill out the off duty employment form to do this?

Does stock trading through a prop firm count as off duty employment?

Yes, this would be. You will also need to make sure that you don’t have any conflicts of interest because of the stocks you will be trading.

If you an oge 450 filer you will likely face even more hurdles.
