Its not just companies. Governments (both state and local in the US) use CrowdStrike as well. For such a widespread product that is so deeply enmeshed in corporate and government ecosystems, its jaw-dropping that this broken update got deployed globally.
I get that the urgency of cybersecurity doesnt always allow for thorough QA testing, but dayyyum, a small pre-deployment pilot group, or even just an internal initial rollout first would have been wise here.

People that have zero experience as a sysadmin can’t realize how much effort it would be to change to another provider. Way too much time and money.

There’s no lawsuits that are going to happen. If they are it will fail. Service indemnity is a contracting fundamental, they aren’t liable.

Lol, they don’t have any reasonable alternatives. Crowdstrike is so far beyond its competitors, and that is exactly why it’s used so extensively.
They’ll renew and deal with an occasional hiccup.

Would be interesting to get a legal opinion from a corp lawyer who has reviewed a CrowdStrike MSA. I recall there being a great deal of back and forth on the MSA during a CrowdStrike procurement in the past. I’m making the assumption that CrowdStrike’s standard terms would cap damages.

Honestly the smaller the company the easier it would be to correct.
The manual fix they instructed clients to use yesterday required more or less going affected device by device. So larger companies with thousands of affected devices are the ones fucked the most.

Yeah I’m dumping my CRWD shares Monday. I waited on Friday to see how it would play out. I bought at a decent price so only down a little bit. But the more I think about this, the more I believe companies will go another route when their contract is up, plus with lawsuits, they’re toast in the short term

I bought some puts for post earnings. I think the true pain won’t reflect until their forward guidance (for the short term) comes in as total crap. Stay away from shorter plays, because it’s easy for it to be manipulated. But when the guidance/sales come in as shit, there’s nowhere to hide.
Imagine being a salesperson trying to pitch a company on Crowdstrike.
Also, you know PANW has its salespeople going full throttle right now trying to get contracts. Pelosi is not an easy taskmaster

CrowdStrike is hands down the best endpoint protection solution on the market. They are miles ahead of their competitors. It’s not going anywhere.
