    1. It’s hard to estimate something like this.

They were saying ~8 million systems were affected and that is around $1,100 in damages per system.

However, that figure is entirely dependent on whether or not you have a robust DR process in place.

Shops I talked to that are setup to handle this recovered pretty quickly.

I would personally argue that the damages should be split between crowdstrike and their customers, as they were negligent as well in not being able to recover from a scenario like this in a reasonable time.

    2. Damage is hard to quantify because while a flight is cancelled, people still need to get to their destination and book another flight or airline reschedules.

I’m really curious as well to see if someone can come up with a reasonable calculation to calculate the damages and show us the calculations. We all know airlines were hit hard and there’s money lost there but there’s so many other businesses affected. For example I had a dentist appointment that day and when I arrived they turned me away saying their systems were down. So I’m wondering how all of the millions of smaller businesses were impacted and how can a dollar amount be derived from that.

    9. My question is less about money and more about how many people died as a result.
