FL Resident Stationed in TX

Currently an FL Resident (born there and lived there whole life before military), and got stationed in TX.

Any benefits to changing my residency from FL to TX?

Also, different but related question:

Are military children considered residents of the same state as their service-member parent? I know about spouse residency relief, but anything like that for children? Really wondering for college tuition purposes in the far future.
