Anyway around them just reimbursing the GTCC for lodging and then paying for per diem to my personal? I have a few trips lined up in next 2 months and would be a nice added perk. Wondering if anyone had experience with this.

Anyway to have a TDY hotel stay put on personal CC for points?

Link a bank account to your Citibank/Travel Card account. Once they reimburse to Citibank account (even without a balance, you’ll get the money to the account), you can transfer it to your bank and pay off your own CC. In DTS you can also specify to disburse directly to your direct deposit account.

    2. Two things:

      1) you’ll still have to payoff your own credit card and wait to get reimbursed. Might be fine, could be a pain. I had to deal with voucher issues for a few weeks to finally get paid from one of my deployments. There’s an opportunity cost on your money.

      2) risk v reward. Hotel points are generally kinda shitty. Is it worth one or two free nights at a hotel to do this? My old Sq got audited a few years back and it was really quick to see what pilots kept on having negative balances and Citi send money to their personal accounts. Supposedly it cost one guy an assignment it was so bad.

Theres some hotel brand credit cards waive the annual fee and some come with free weekend stays or whatnot per year.

Bonus 3) if you use a budget tracking app it is another thing to pay attention to and fix when it comes to tracking spending

Hilton and Marriott charges my card on file even when I hand them my GTCC for incidentals ; )

    5. A variety of advice here. What I will add is I’ve had two separate hotels, both Hilton properties, say they would have to charge taxes, full rate for parking, etc. if I paid with a personal card and not the GOVTC. Since the lodging was centrally coordinated, with reduced rate parking and no lodging taxes for the duration, I had to pay with the Citi card vs one of my personal.

I will usually file voucher reimbursement to GOVTC regardless of how I paid for hotel or rental car. Any overpayment refund is very straightforward and can be handled in the Citi app. Like others have said, infrequently my Citi card gets declined for whatever reason.

    6. I’ve done it many times, but each time is a risk since technically you can be UCMJ’d for it.
