Hey all! Just a quick question. I am looking into leasing a car but I will be PCS’ing next May. I do not have orders yet so at this time, I don’t know if I will be going overseas. I read online that SCRA will allow you to terminate a car lease if you get OCONUS orders. How easy is this process?

I don’t think it covers car leases. I know it covers rental agreements and leases.
I did this back in 2018 when I went to Korea. All I had to do was write a letter to corporate and turn the car in. That easy.

SCRA indeed does cover vehicle lease termination with OCONUS orders. Just contact your companies vehicles finance section.
I did this with a Toyota lease, I just went into a dealership with my orders and showed them to a manager. We signed some paperwork and he looked at the car and took the keys.
I only lease cars for this reason. I’ve broken 5x leases for deployments in the last 12 years and the auto finance department has never given me an issue. Drive it to the dealership the day before I deploy. Good luck!
I faxed my orders to Ford, and dropped off the car at a dealership the next day. Walked in, handed them the keys, went home. Easy peasy pumpkin squeezy.
