I'm currently an AROTC cadet and am set to commission during May of next year. I am eligible for the NFCU career kickoff loan, 25K at 2.99% APR (I have had an account with them since 2018). This loan would greatly help me with rental costs during my senior year. I do work a job while I am at school but this would take financial pressure off of me, especially since I am taking 18-19 credits each of my senior year semesters. Not all of this money would be needed for rent, some would be put towards a car payment and I may invest some, although I am not sure that is the soundest idea.

Anyone that has been in the same position as me or has any advice on this? It seems too good to be true, especially since payments do not have to start until 180 days after commissioning.

Career Kickoff Loan (NFCU) – Any advice?
